An island that has existed for 6,000 years, vibrant still
Inis Meáin Development Company is a community development organisation based on Inis Meáin, Aran Islands. It was established in 2016 to promote the island, expand services, preserve the Irish language and ensure a better life for the community.
The island is renowned as one of the richest cultural and heritage areas in Ireland, from the windows of Harry Clarke’s Studio to Synge’s Chair, to the unique accent of Irish spoken here every day.

Lúb Dhún Chonchúir
8.5km, 2.5hr
Smooth roads with a smooth surface. Suitable for families, children and the elderly. Normal running shoes recommended.

Lúb Chill Cheannanach
10km, 3.5hr
Smooth paths around the old cemetery and medieval church. Suitable for all ages and levels.

Lún Dhún Fearbhaí
13km, 4.5hr
Climbing and uneven surfaces in places. Special walking shoes and clothing are recommended.

Coláiste Gaeilge Inis Meáin
Learn in the heart of the Gaeltacht
Adult immersion courses are available every summer and Easter for all levels.
Among the famous people who came here to learn Irish were Pádraig Mac Pearse, J.M. Synge and Éamon de Valera.
